Hello and welcome. I am the new owner of the Lirix project, R. Razarius.
I have been working on a new version of the Lirix system, and I am proud to announce the Vespula release of Lirix.
More specifically, the beta of Lirix Vespula.
Here, at the Lirix project, after I took charge, we do not believe in performance.
That is why I have made the executive decision to remove MaXX from the project.
200 MB or less of RAM is simply not enough RAM usage to fully expand upon the full capabilities of a Linux system.
At the Lirix Project, we believe that unused RAM is wasted RAM. Ergo, we had no choice but to drop support for the MaXX Interactive Desktop, as it leaves too much of your RAM unused, which we find to be rather wasteful.
We needed to find a desktop environment that would maximise the amount of RAM your system uses on idle.
We experimented with crafting a bespoke solution, trying to turn Google Chrome into a window manager. However, this proved beyond our team's capabilities.
So, as you may not expect from the professional standards of Lirix Solutions, we had no choice but to use an off-the-shelf desktop environment.
After many hours of research, scientists at our state-of-the-art world-leading laboratries correctly decided that the desktop environment which would yield the maximum idle RAM usage was the GNOME desktop environment.
Now, GNOME is a very obscure desktop environment. Our scientists were not just looking at the popular ones, as we wanted none other than the best for our customers.
So, what just is GNOME? GNOME is an acronym, it stands for Garden Network Object Modelling Environment, where Garden refers to the GARDEN team, a group of old pioneers from the early days of open-source.
GARDEN, of course, stands for, GARDEN ArdenGARDEN RdenGARDEN DenGARDEN EnGARDEN NGARDEN. Do not ask what GARDEN stands for in that expansion, lest you wish your mind to become stagnant forever. Their best-known innovation is conquering 50% of open-source projects.
Speaking of, we are now proud to join their domain. Lirix will now be relicensed under the GPL. After all, permissive licenses are untrustworthy and restrict your freedom. Now, large corporations cannot steal our source code, just don't think of any reasons why they would and then I am justified and always right.
Anyway, GNOME. Initially developed by GARDEN, now developed by the GNOME team. The Lirix Foundation chooses this desktop environment, as we believe that unused RAM is wasted RAM.
Now we can say we fulfil this promise, as GNOME uses a whole 1024 MB at idle. That's in the magnitude of gigabytes. That's something to be proud of.
Of course! GNOME looks terrible! Absolutely awful! We inherited the MaXX philosophy of no eye-candy, and we see no reason to drop this one!
Glad you asked. GNOME uses Wayland by default. It is a competitor to the titan X11, who plays the role of Atlas, holding up the sky for all Linux graphical infrastructure.
However, we at the Lirix Network Object Fungible Asbestos-Free Aspiring System Infrastructure and Research Organisation, side with the Olympians.
Another one of the LNOFAFASIRO's beliefs is that you should always fix stuff that is always broken. After all, it is in the name of our organisation, the I stands for Innovation.
We believe that everything should be innovated, from good UI to bad UI, from stable to unstable, from looking good without trying to trying to look good and failing, and the display system is no exception.
Nobody needs X11, it is old and ancient. Nevermind that as a result it is stable and that it is also highly reliable and portable to many different situations, as I am always right.
So we're introducing Wayland, the less stable and portable competitor to X11 with about as many features as sliced bread. Naturally, this makes Wayland the best thing since sliced bread.
If you're concerned about compatibility issues, do not fret! We install XWayland, so you can use X11 inside Wayland, which defeats the purpose if you ask me, but here at Lirix Enterprises, we see purpose as an enemy that we have successfully vanquished!
With that, we are proud to present to you the ISO for the beta of Lirix Vespula.
Since it is a beta ISO, it is not present at the usual location, so we will instead link it below. Enjoy, and remember to launch 10,000 tabs in Google Chrome to make sure your RAM is not wasted.
